    Nightlife in Miami Beach

Miami Beach is fun and beautiful. The sun seems to be shining all the time, there are some great shopping possibilities and the nightlife is outstanding. But it is also quite a superficial world. Guys with pumped up muscles, girls with pumped up boobs and parties where people throw away money they don’t have – but at least they are happy.

    Florida & Bahamas

    Up the coast to Orlando

Florida is also known as the retirement center of the US and when traveling north you get the impression that this is not fake news. While Fort Lauderdale still feels a bit like a suburb of Miami with a mixture of young and old people, West Palm Beach already feels like a place where nobody needs to work anymore.

With Harry Potter and the Minions in Orlando

If you are looking for amusement parks, Orlando has them all. In fact, there are so many, that you could easily spend a two-week holiday doing them all. But if you are less interested in spaceships and waterparks and more into rollercoasters and movies, then “Island of Adventure”, “Universal Studios” and “Disneyland” are the places to go. There you can visit Hogwarts and it looks exactly as you remember it from the movies while its 4D-Rollercoaster is spectacular. Having a Duff beer at Moe’s or meeting the Minions is also a unique experience. And if you are more a Disney kind of person a meet and greet with Mickey Mouse makes your day. The only downside about Disneyland is that compared to the Universal Studios it feels a bit old fashioned.

    Florida & Bahamas

Relax on the Beach of Fort Myers & Sanibel Island

Summer in Florida is not only hot, it also comes with short but intense moments of rain. These moments of rain can be so heavy, that even highway traffic takes a break.

But if you manage to cross over to the Gulf of Mexico you are rewarded with some of the most beautiful nature, beaches and animals Florida has to offer. In Ft. Myers you can go on a boat tour to have a close look at the dolphins, pelicans and other water birds and with some luck you even spot a manatee. Sanibel Island on the other hand offers some remote beaches covered with beautiful white shells.

    Florida & Bahamas

Crocodiles and Beers in the Everglades

Everglades city, home of crocodiles and alligators and apparently in low season only very few people. So, if you are looking for a party, this is probably the wrong place to go, as the only party you will find will be the one you throw on your veranda with a 24 pack of beer.

But if you are looking for amphibious animals you are at the exact right spot. Riding through the everglades with an airboat and spotting crocodiles, alligators, turtles and snakes is actually a lot of fun and if you are really lucky you might also see a black bear when riding the swamp buggy.

    A Dream in the Keys

If you are not sure what car to rent to travel Florida you will for sure know when driving over the 7 mile bridge. Doing this with a cabriolet is just a story of its own. And the best part of it, you can do it twice, except of course when you decide to take the 90 miles swim from Key West to Cuba. But other than that, you will not get any further south on continental USA, but that is just fine.

This place feels like a hideout for wealthy hippies. Everything is relaxed, the food is great, the parties long and thanks to white sand bars and warm water, snorkel trips feel like a trip in your bathtub.

    Florida & Bahamas

White sandy beaches on Cat Island

If you enjoyed the white sandy beaches of Florida, but thought that there were just too many people on them, taking a flight to Cat Island will solve your problem. And if your staying at the Greenwood Beach Resort you do not just have “a” but “the” perfect remote white sandy beach in front of your bungalow. But you will not feel lonely as there will be at least one dog belonging to the resort that will adopt you as his caretaker.

If you are looking for something more spectacular than reading in your hammock and long walks on the beach, Bob the diver will help you out. He is a legend on the island and sees himself as the only natural predator of the invasive lionfish. His constant spearing of lionfish while guiding your dives is something that you need to get used to, but it helps the environment and besides, they taste absolutely fantastic. Apart from speared lionfish you also get the chance to see barracudas, turtles, lobsters and with some luck a hammerhead shark in the reefs.

Leaving this tiny island is also a story of its own. The island’s only taxi will pick you up and bring you to the smallest airport you’ve ever seen. It basically consists of one room, big enough for maybe 30 people. This room is the check-in, the souvenir shop and the gate at the same time. They even reuse the boarding passes. There is only one plane a day and before you enter you will see a lot of bahamer leaving the plane with pizza boxes as there is no pizza oven on Cat island.
