It’s all about wine and tastes in Stellenbosch and surrounding. When we tried our first South African wine from Viniversum on one of the wine ships in Zurich, we fell in love with those wines. Now, about 5 years later, we finally travelled to the place where they came from.
This part of the trip to the wineyards of Stellenbosch had been a yearlong dream of Daniela as her love for wines and especially her sense of smell and taste is so much better developed than mine… and this part of the trip was all about taste.
We combined tender steaks at the Fat Butcher and the Grill Room with exceptional wines from Tokara Wines and Val du Charon. We enjoyed two full wine tastings combined with meat and cheese platters at the Delaire Graff Estate, saw and learned a lot about their wine making process and also met the eponym of one of Morgenhof’s brands – a beautiful peacock.
And there was not only wine, steaks, charcuterie, olives and cheese to taste, we also went to the Spice Route Farm to taste and learn about chocolate, craft beers and gins. Too bad one of us had to drive and so we had to alternate on all those tastings.
In the end those were wonderful three days full of pleasure and new insights into our sense of smell and taste which we will always keep in our memory.
