It is a head to head race and depending on the survey either Cusco or Arequipa is the number one.
We haven’t been to Cusco yet but we can assure that Arequipa is absolutely beautiful. For two days we walked all around the old town and enjoyed the view on the stunning colonial buildings surrounded by the three gigantic volcanoes.
And then there is this city within a city – the Monasteria Santa Catelina. Even if we would consider Cuzco as more beautiful than Arequipa, this monastery is for sure the most beautiful we have ever visited. It is an absolute gem with his beautifully designed houses, the red or blue painted walls and all the plants.
Another highlight of our stay was our visit to the Alpaca center. Not only did we learn to distinguish the different kinds of Llamas and Alpacas but we also got to feed these amazingly cute animals. We were so fascinated by them that we all bought an Alpaca pullover on the market and started to call ourselves the three Alpacas.
And in the evening Roger could complete another task on his list and finally eat a guinea pig. We also couldn’t resist and tried a piece. It wasn’t bad but we preferred to stay with our Beef Sirloin.
