Nelson Bay is an absolute gem. There are several beautiful beaches to relax at, Murray’s Brewery where you can chat the afternoon away with locals and Tomaree Head offers a lookout more stunning than any other lookout on the mainland of east coast Australia.
We did all this but our personal highlight was the Nelson Bay Golf Course. Not because we went there to play golf but because they offer guided tours to see the Kangaroos. We had a fantastic guide, who not only showed us more Kangaroos than we could look at, but also gave us so many info about them that we felt like Kangaroo experts after this tour.
We liked it so much there that we stayed four nights instead of the originally planned two. We met the countryside people at the Sea Breeze Hotel and went for dinner at the Little Beach Boat House.
